A must stop in the Dordogne region for English speakers with an interest in cooking and local cuisine (or families looking for a charming B&B with a swimming pool in the emerald countryside.)

Operated by an engaging British couple who have lived in the region for 20 years, it’s great fun and a wonderful opportunity to learn about local cuisine and cook with the freshest ingredients, including basil plucked right from the owners’ window box).

Ian (a professionally trained chef) and his wife, Sara, extend a warm, relaxing welcome. The immaculate training stations are set up with all the tools and ingredients you will need to create (and then eat) an informal lunch with your classmates.

A highpoint of our debut trip to the Dordogne region. Five miles from the market village of St. Cyprien.

Great location, great people and lovely food! The cooking class was our favourite stop in France. Very informative and so delicious. We did the vegetarian menu and it was just perfect. Thank you so much for this unique experience!

There are many people offering cooking courses and wine tours in the Périgord, but I am particularly grateful to Ian and Sara Fisk of Cookdordogne, just outside St Cyprien, for their insights on the hosting and teaching of clients in their well-regarded cooking school – Martin Walker, Périgord, September 2017

Ian and Sara were the perfect hosts for our day of cooking school. From the visit to the local market to preparing and eating our mouth watering food the day was well beyond our expectations. Ian is a natural teacher and was keen to pass on the knowledge gained as a chef.

We both left left with that warm feeling of having experienced a great day.

Many thanks – Lynn and Peter, Melbourne Australia

Doing the cooking course with Ian was one of the highlights of my stay in The Dordogne. Ian is a natural teacher and he knows how to cook as well. Would recommend this to anyone.

Could not recommend this highly enough. If you’re a foodie, this is a must if you’re visiting the Dordogne. Ian and Sara are a lovely couple. Ian is an extremely knowledgeable chef and has lots of passion for local produce and cuisine. This is a great way not only to improve on your cooking skills, but to learn how to cook some of the local dishes.

If you’re reading this debating whether or not to take the cooking class–DO IT. We were in France for 20 days, had 4 major parts to it, but our experience with Chef Ian was the best day of all of it. Their grounds are so beautiful, Ian and Sara are amazing, we learned so much, and the food we created was simple and SO delicious. Chef Ian’s charisma and personality are infectious. You can see right away that he loves what he does and gets you to love it right with him. I highly recommend booking a class. It is absolutely something you should do on a trip to France. 🌻

Just spent a wonderful day at Le Chevrefeuille with hosts Ian and Sara and fellow participants Keith and Gail. Truly a wonderful experience from start to finish enjoying the delicious fruits of our labours thanks to Ian’s guidance. But this is so much more than a cooking class, it is the chance to learn about the regions foods in a way that is fun yet educative, involving and stimulating. Do yourself a big favour and book in with them you will love it
